Tulang Belut or ‘Eel Spine’ is a decorative intricate stitch made at the neck of Baju Kurung or Baju Melayu. Both are traditional costume worn by the women and men. I personally found it was not easy to stitch the original Tulang Belut. I have done “Ulat Bulu” and “Karipap”, eventhough it is not a Tulang Belut, but I consider it in Tulang Belut family.
In my previous post of

promised Emily photos of my tulang belut project. Here there are:
As the stitches are blended to the fabric color, the “ulat bulu” and “karipap” are not that clear. Maybe I’ll stitch them on a plain fabric with a contrast color of thread. *wink!*

Thank you for putting the pictures! Very color bajus you have!
I try to have "not so striking color combination". Usually I go for pastel than "bright" as these pink and green.
do you want to put a pic of the tulang belut here?
