Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Persi & Daisy, the only cats I have. I still remember a year ago, Cicak (the mother) chose me to be the midwife *blush*. She was in a box and I have to sit and wait while she delivered two black kittens. Its a miracle to watch these two kitties grows. The most amazing part was the change of colour from black to grey and brown.

Its a pity I couldn't find pictues of Persi & Daisy when they were babies. I'll upload their pictures later.

WIP: ???

While cutting material for my 9 Block Bag, I also cut the above materials. I simply make it without any intention of making anything. Just say, wait and see...

*Psssttt.... it might be the last material I touched this month. I started busy with IGFA Labuan International Game Fishing Tournament 2007. It is the anchor even for Labuan's annual Sea Challenge Event. I'll have it written in my Zest for Life Blog tomorrow.

WIP: 9 Block Bag

You can say I'm crazy. Yeah, I'm crazy with bag. My Maroon Quilt Bag is not complete, yet to have its handle or strip. Now, I started to make a 9 Block Patchwork Bag. While sewing this, I have a very BIG regret as it took me ages to make a perfect (or almost perfect or so so) match of the square corners. These are the front and back side of the bag:

Coin Purse

I'm out of my maroon thread... I'm stuck with my Quilting Bag, but I still want to work with my sewing machine. Lucky... I found some stash and a zip, enough to make a coin purse.

My friend said, the technique I applied is called "Slash Quilting". Hehehe... Never heard the name before. This was what I did:

1. Sew straight lines on 5 pieces of stash (1 thick material and 4 cotton)
2. Make the bag
3. Cut in between the straight line (only cotton) and I rubbed until it looks pluffy.

WIP:Quilted Bag

As I'm only at home for a week in the month of March, there was very little progress in my sewing and crochet projects. I started to complete my Quilting, unortunately, I' run ot of thread. *sigh*. Anyway, this is ow it looks like:

Since my sense of alignment was poor, the applique position was not at the centre. I'm thinking of doing some corective decoration on the empty spaces.Probably some bead works.

Next: Bag Strip.

So Called Tulang Belut

Tulang Belut or ‘Eel Spine’ is a decorative intricate stitch made at the neck of Baju Kurung or Baju Melayu. Both are traditional costume worn by the women and men. I personally found it was not easy to stitch the original Tulang Belut. I have done “Ulat Bulu” and “Karipap”, eventhough it is not a Tulang Belut, but I consider it in Tulang Belut family.

In my previous post of Some Ranting, I mentioned that I promised Emily photos of my tulang belut project. Here there are:

As the stitches are blended to the fabric color, the “ulat bulu” and “karipap” are not that clear. Maybe I’ll stitch them on a plain fabric with a contrast color of thread. *wink!*
